Hello All!
Welcome to the future home of my blog covering my trip to the Congo (DRC). As some of you may or may not know, I may be afforded passage on a trip to Africa to assist in studying monkeypox. Should this actually pan out (you know how fickle the Army can be!) and a I can break away from my primary job here, this site will host my blog. I cannot go into the explicit details due to the nature of the work, but it will be interesting to say the very least. I will officially begin this blog when (and if) my orders come across. It will begin with my pre-deployment training, which I'm told includes tactical driving courses for off road vehicles and dirt bikes(how cool is that!) I'm not sure about the internet situation there though. Rumor has it they are living in the villages and have only a satellite phone for communication, so we'll see.
The title refers to the the local name for the Congo.The Republic of the Congo (ROC), also known as Congo-Brazzaville (and locally as "Brazza"), is the smaller of the two countries and lies to the west.
